What is Game of Thrones?



The Game of Thrones series is an adaption of the very popular fantasy novels by the name ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ by George R. R. Martin. The title, Game of Thrones comes from the very first of the seven novels, as of now only five out of seven books have been published with the last two still in progress. The game of thrones TV series is currently on its fourth season with confirmation for a fifth and sixth. the series has been filmed in different places consisting of: Northern Ireland, Scotland, Iceland, Croatia, Morocco and Malta. This is done in order to capture the epic and exotic fictional continents of Westeros and Essos

Within this fantasy world there are long summers lasting years or even decades, followed by a very vigorous winter lasting just as long as summer. The story starts during the end of a decade long summer. Set from point of views of the many characters which include the Stark Family, Lannister Family, the remaining children of the Targaryen family as well as many more. The story progresses into three main parts. The first being a civil war between the several noble houses for the Iron Throne of the Seven Kingdoms. The second being of the growing threat far, far into the north as winter draws close. The third being the journey of the righteous heir to the throne, by blood returns to take back what belonged to them. However the series explores many issues of social hierarchy, loyalty, religion, civil war, corruption and crime

The game of thrones series as well as novels has grown globally in popularity. It has become one of HBO’s most successful TV series winning numerous awards and nominations.
